Real time searches are well on their way to becoming mainstream, twitter and facebook led this change where users could see the latest trending topics happening in real time . While both Google and Bing have reacted to this by incorporating twitter news results among its search engine rankings.
Google started including real-time data in its search results in December 2009. Other data sources for Google’s real-time results include MySpace and Twitter.

Unlike Twitter, which is reportedly making money off of its search deals with Bing and Google, Facebook isn’t charging the search engines for its data. According to Danny Sullivan at Search Engine Land, Facebook is giving away the status updates because they may drive more people back to the social network.
Apart from twitter and Facebook, it would be interesting to see the way these ral time search engines would develop their revenue model. As the real time search gors more mainstream , we could see a lot of consolidation at the top while smaller players either sells themselves or gets acquired.
