Facebook Enters Social Shopping with " Buy With Friends"
This was clearly on the anvil..Facebook is launching its own . Social Shopping feature called " Buy with Friends"Buy With Friends is being seen as a challenge to Groupon and to Google Offers, a new initiative being developed by the internet search giant."Buy With Friends,” allows Facebook to offer its users discounts on virtual goods purchased by their friends.
Once a user makes an in-app purchase using Facebook’s currency, Facebook Credits, and shares across their r newsfeed. A friend sees the purchase and can then buy the same item at a discount directly in the newsfeed.
Ms Liu said that while testing the Buy With Friends feature, Facebook has found that more than 50% of test users chose to share a purchase they made on the social network with their friends.Facebook head of commerce and product marketing Deb Liu has announced plans to start testing a new feature called "Buy With Friends".
The company would soon roll out two new ways to use its virtual currency Facebook Credits — Buy With Friends and Frictionless Credits Micropayments.he Frictionless Credits micro-payments system will allow users to make purchases of up to 20 or 30 Credits without having to go through an approval and success step. This allows them to spend currency without interrupting the game. Without the approval or success step, spending Credits is much faster and less distracting, and users are more likely to convert.
Speaking at the Inside Social Apps Conference in San Francisco Tuesday, Facebook’s head of commerce product marketing Deb Liu said that during early tests, more than half of users chose to share their purchases with friends, Forbes reports.
