US Smartphone OEM Marketshare : Apple Leads with 27%

Acording to Recent ComScore Data During the three months ending in May 2011, 76.8 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones. Among smartphone owners, Apple accounted for 26.6% of devices making Apple the top smartphone OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) for the month. RIM followed accounting for 24.7% of the market, with HTC capturing 11.8% share. Motorola and Samsung rounded out the top five with 11.4% share and 8.9% share, respectively


According to  ( Feb-April,2011 data )Nielsen has recently reported the results of their U.S. smartphone market research for April, and concluded that Android now has a 36% share out of all smartphone OSes, with iOS claiming 26%, and BlackBerry 23%.



In its first standalone measure of smartphone ownership, the Pew Internet Project finds that one third of American adults – 35% – own smartphones. The Project’s May survey found that 83% of US adults have a cell phone of some kind, and that 42% of them own a smartphone. Pew's estimate of smartphone ownership is similar to that of comScore, which tracks this statistic monthly. On July 5, comScore reported that about 33% of Americans 13 and older own smartphones. That's up from 27% at the end of 2010.
