Facebook is the most popular application for Android, passing the Google search, Maps, and Gmail apps, as measured by usage of the app, according to data from Nielsen.
Nielsen gathered the data using its "proprietary device meters on the smartphones" of thousands of users.

Another big milestone for Google and Android. The company is activating 700,000 devices per day.That gives it a run rate of 255.5 million Android devices annually. It's impressive, but it's actually lagging estimates for Apple's iOS.
