Citing a strong
holiday season, Google reported a 25% increase in fourth-quarter revenue and a
display advertising business that has doubled in the last two years.
Google Search engine,
which dominates more than 75% global marketshare, became less dependent on
search advertising alone: Display Advertising revenue in Google, including network ads and
YouTube, has become a $5 billion annualized business, according to CEO Larry
Page. In October 2010, Google announced that display had become a $2.5 billion .
In addition to the $5 billion run rate for display, Google reported that its
DoubleClick ad exchange had 130% growth in spending year-over-year
Google reported
$8.13 billion in sales, excluding revenue passed on to partner sites. Gross
revenue was $10.58 billion, up 25% from a year earlier. Net income was $2.71
billion, up from $2.54 billion in the year-earlier period but down slightly
from $2.73 billion in the third quarter of 2011.
In a recent Google report, Mobile was said to have become a $2.5
billion run-rate business at Google up from $1 billion a year earlier
