Apple's iPhone Business generated 77% Smartphone Industry profits

In Q1,2012 Apple reached 75% of profit share, nearly 40% of revenue share and 9% of units share, while Q2, has seen its operating profit grow by 2% to 77%

Apple collects 71% of the world’s smartphone profits, analysts reckon; Even though Samsung ships the most phones, it takes 37%; Taiwan’s HTC gets 1%. (That total exceeds 100% because it’s offset by losses at Nokia, BlackBerry-maker RIM, Motorola, Sony, LG and others.)

Apple’s smartphone business ( iPhones)  formed  nearly  77 percent of the operating profits from the smartphone industry in the Q2,2012.
Apple only contributed to 6 percent of the industry's smartphones and tablets that were shipped last quarter and it was also supposed to be a slow quarter for Apple due to the iPhone sales being lower than usual. In comparison, Samsung shipped nearly twice as many devices in the same quarter.

Apart from being the  the most profitable company in the world, Apple  now owns the world’s largest hedge fund as well. Zero Hedge reports that Braeburn Capital, a Nevada-based asset management corporation that Apple founded specifically to manage its cash, now has more than $117 billion in assets under management.
