E-book share of total consumer book sales in the United States from 2009 to 2015 

The last 2 years has seen a " huge rise in the "ebook market. Amazon's Kindle ushered in a technology which has changed the way and essence on Reading a Book. 

In the UNITED STATES 2009, e-books accounted for a 2.70 percent share of total consumer book sales. By 2012, e-books accounted for 14.9 percent of the book market according to Pricewaterhouse Coopers. E-book sales revenue was 3.3 billion US dollars in 2012.

In the period between January 2012 and November 2012, the market share of the e-book fluctuated between a high of 26.7 percent (January 2012) and a low of 17 percent (October 2012). Additional projections from Pricewaterhouse Coopers suggest that worldwide e-book market share could reach 17.9 percent by 2016.

Clearly " ereaders ' are in their nascent growth stage, and in the time to come, you need not worry about space constraints .. or carrying extra bags with you .. Barnes and Noble and Kindle will be storing around 1500 ebooks with a size of the device which slips into your shirt pocket
