Top 3 Social Media Sites with Highest Penetration


The social audience is growing across networks and countries. That is the takeaway from GlobalWebIndex’s “Stream Social: Quarterly Social Platforms Update.” The study found that Facebook remained the No. 1 social network worldwide, with just over half of internet users logging on to the site at least once a month in Q1 2013.

Why Facebook is Loosing out to Pinterest:Pinterest Users Buy 15 times more






Linkedin and Pinterest are among the top 2 social networks that has seen considerable scale in revenue and users last year and in an interesting research " shows why Ecommerce and online retailers are throwing their might with Pinterest instead to spending on Facebook A recent chart from Comscore showed that " Pinterest user base" outspends Facebook users and its " Spending Power" or consumption patterns are more lucrative to marketers compared to any other social media site 

The nature of Pinterest social community is more transactional as compared to other social networks . This is because its not only the numbers but the kind of " product mix" Pinterest users engage in .


Not many know that 80% of the top Pinterest categories are related to commerce, and its no wonder why more jewelry,Apparels,and Cosmetic, Fashion and beauty chains are heavily investing on it As a result, Pinterest users who shop at Sephora spend 15 times more on its products than the brand's Facebook followers.

 BuyingPower Of Pinterest Users Second Only To LinkedIn Says ComScore - A recent Comscore research showed that Pinterest — Pinterest users buy more items and more frequently than users on any of the other top five social networks and that they are now second only to LinkedIn in buying power. The head of digital for the beauty and cosmetics chain Sephora revealed some interesting figures regarding the site's users during an interview with tech blog Venture Beat.


 Comparing Pinterest with Facebook, she said: "The reality is that when you're in the Pinterest mindset, you're actually interested in acquiring items, which is not what people go to Facebook for. Facebook continues to be just a great customer interaction tool that gives us the real-time ability to dialog with our customer; it's a big customer-service venue for us."

Facebook Commands 83% Share in US , Twitter and Linkedin at distant second




Americans’ usage of Social Networking sites continued to be dominated by Facebook, which accounted for 5 out of every 6 minutes spent in the Social Networking category
The other leading social network beyond Facebook and LinkedIn is Twitter, which battled throughout the year with LinkedIn for the #2 position in the category, just barely capturing the spot in December. Twitter recently claimed an $11-billion valuation on private markets, and industry rumors suggest it is a viable candidate to IPO in 2013. Twitter has reportedly done an effective job scaling its advertising business through the use of Promoted Tweets, which are becoming increasingly popular among major advertisers

Google Plus Steals the Thunder from Twitter, now Ranked 2 after Facebook

































Last week, Global Web Index  Published  a Study of the "Most Active Social Media Platform" released its December 2012  which shows which Social websites "Show more engagement  with its users .  As expected Facebook remains on top with over 50% of global internet users actively engaged on Facebook each month. The jaw-dropper of the report is that the Google Plus (G+) network has surpassed Twitter in number of active monthly users. In the month of December 2012 G+ grew to 343 million users globally, or about 25% of global internet users. Twitter came in 4th to YouTube with just over 20%.

According to Sam Fiorella, writing for the Huffington Post, to continue ignoring G+ as a marketing option is a risk few businesses can afford to take and marketers need to adopt Google Plus as additional Online Distribution points  along with Twitter and Facebook

Google Plus numbers actually show that it has topped Twitter in December ,2012 .The report from  Globe Index data  shows that  twitter  is Tcurrently growing globally at a faster rate than any other social network. ”The Q4 2012 dataset from GlobalWebIndex, shows that the number of active Twitter users grew 40% from Q2 2012 to Q4 2012. This is equal to 288 million monthly active users (claimed to have used or contribute to Twitter in the past month) across the 31 markets currently researched by GWI (representing nearly 90% of the global internet population aged 16 to 65). That marks a whopping growth rate in active users of 714% since July 2009.”
