European Mobile Revenue Comparison : Voice vs Data

According to the latest  GSMA European Economy data  the  increasing smartphone penetration and the growth in the number of data devices  in europe such as laptops, netbooks,consoles,ereaders and tablets has driven strong growth in data revenues in Europe. 

However, the rate of growth in data revenues has also begun to decline as web based messaging systems including  mobile apps have begun to erode “legacy” data revenues from SMS messaging. However data revenues continues to show higher revenue compared to voice

Mobile Advertising Revenue by Region: 2011-2015

Expenditure on mobile advertising and marketing worldwide:
Gartner predicts mobile ad revenu will sky rocket to $20.6 billion in 2015, more than doubling each year. It will continue to grow thereafter.
• Search ads and location ads (paid-for positioning on maps and augmented reality apps) will deliver the highest revenue, while video/audio ads will see the fastest growth through 2015.
• Brand spending on mobile advertising will grow from 0.5 percent of the total advertising budget in 2010 to over 4 percent in 2015.
• Asia will continue to dominate global mobile ad spend, but to a lessening degree from 49.2 percent of mobile ad revenue in 2011 to 33.6 percent in 2015.

Internet Advertising Revenues Grow by 15% to 26$ Billion,

According to a report by the Interactive Advertising Bureau, online ad revenue jumped 15% to $26 billion in 2010. That’s a sharp reversal from a 3.4% decline during the recession of the previous year in 2009
Total 2010 fourth quarter revenues were $1.2 billion (19.0%) higher than the fourth
quarter of 2009,
and $984 million (15.2 %) higher than the third quarter of 2010.

2010 annual revenues increased on a year-over-year percentage and dollar basis, after
revenues dropped in 2009, impacted primarily by the economic recession


Search and Display continue to  Drive Market Growth in 2010
  • Search remains the largest online advertising revenue format, accounting for 46% of 2010 revenues, down from 47% in 2009. In 2010, Search revenues totaled $12.0 billion, up over 12% from $10.7 billion in 2009.
  • Display-related advertising revenues totaled $9.9 billion or 38% percent of 2010revenues, up 24% from the $8.0 billion reported in 2009. Display-related advertising includes Display Banner Ad (24% of 2010 revenues, or $6.2 billion), Rich Media (6%,or $1.5 billion), Digital Video (5%, or $1.4 billion), and Sponsorship (3%, or $718million).
  •  Classifieds revenues accounted for 10% of 2010 revenues or $2.6 billion, up 15% fromthe $2.3 billion (10% of total) reported in 2009.
  • Lead Generation revenues accounted for 5% of 2010 revenues or $1.3 billion, down almost 8% from the $1.5 billion (6%) reported in 2009.
  • Email revenues accounted for 1% of 2010 revenues or $195 million, down 33% from the $292 million (1% of total) reported in 2009.
