How Google Auto Suggest Can Wreak Havoc with your Brand

Often Brands and Companies gets jolted when they see " words like  Scam, Cheats or Unfair when they use the Google Auto Suggest Tool.Have you ever typed a company name into Google and been instantly greeted with words like ‘scam’ or ‘complaints’ by Google Auto-complete? 

Brands that are well known are more susceptible to this kind of " search Keywords" which is a simple looking fairly innocuous " auto suggest tool"

Brands  and Digital  Ad agencies  that invest in Online Reputation Management (ORM), might not be able to rectify this issue as the auto complete results are dictated by an Algorithm . However help is at hand . According to SearchEngine Land, there is a way  to get to this problem resolved . The first step is to analyze how this auto complete  results are obtained in the first place

The Google Autocomplete algorithm is comprised of 3 crucial parameters
  1. Search volume and searcher location – the amount of searches performed for a keyword along with the location of the searchers
  2. Mentions of the keyword on the Web, crawlable by Google’s spider
  3. Social Media mentions of the keyword on sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Google+
If you can obtain these 3 items in large quantities for your desired keywords, you may be able to influence Google Autocomplete.

Google dominates 91% UK Search ,adds 93 million new users

Google has extended it lead in the UK search market which shows no sign of slowing down, with the proportion of searches containing four or more words increasing. James Murray, Digital Insight Manager, Experian Marketing takes a look at the latest UK search trends.


 UK  search engine usage in, 2012 has consistently outperformed the corresponding month from 2011. On average, the UK is making an additional 93 million visits per month to search engines compared to the same month in the previous year. This equates to an average year-on-year growth of 4.3% in visits.
In July,2012  Google contributed  almost 91% of UK searches

During the  6 months of 2012 e (January to July) there have been 15.8 billion visits to search engines in the UK alone. In total UK search has grown by 652 million visits so far in 2012, which means there have been an additional 568 million visits to Google engines as compared to 2011
Increasingly search on Google is getting more complex as  UK Internet users are searching for longer search phrases  and the long tail of search.  is slowly showing signs of taking off . The  chart below show  that increasingly longer search phrases are being used with four or more words per search phrase.

In May 2011, Google Sites became the first web property to surpass 1 billion unique visitors globally. In the past year, Google Sites has seen its audience grow 8% to eclipse the 1 billion threshold. Microsoft Sites was the second largest global web property in May reaching more than 905 million visitors, followed by Facebook.com with 713.6 million visitors
