According to NRF’s Mother’s Day spending survey conducted by BIGinsight, consumers will spend an average of $168.94 on mom, up 11 percent from last year’s $152.52. Total spending is expected to reach $20.7 billion.*
The NRF forecast predicts that the average consumer will spend 11% more on Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 12), for an average of $169, with total spending expected to reach $20.7 billion.
Similarly Brand Key’s survey results [pdf] are similar, which shows consumers set to spend an average of $171, for a total of $18.6 billion, which would be a 5% increase from last year. IBISWorld, though, sees total spending reaching a smaller total of $17.1 billion, just 0.2% higher than last year.
The
average order value (AOV) of smartphone traffic to online retailer websites in
Q2 2012 was $97.39, slightly higher than that of tablet traffic ($96.11), and
also outpacing traditional devices ($91.86), according to
[download page] an August report from Monetate, which analyzed a random sample
of more than 100 million online shopping experiences, using same-store data
from the previous quarter. The smartphone AOV of
$97.39 represents a step down from $104.96 in Q1, meaning that the AOV gap has
narrowed with tablets, which saw a comparatively smaller drop in AOV from Q1 to
Q2.
