Apple's iPhone Monster down the years: infographic

Asymco recently featured a report on how the iPhone 5 is different from the other iPhones iPhone 4s, iphone 3g, iphone i3gs and how does this model differentiate from the iPhone 5 which has been dubbed as the FASTEST SELLING CONSUMER ELECTRONICS  item.
Technology Companies these days “ focus more on “ adding value to their products  and tweaking it rather than launching a new product. There are numerous incentives for making products better but few incentives to re-directing improvements away from the prevailing basis of competition.

Companies like Apple know that “ a successful product” needs to be reinvented time and again. Last October when the iPhone 5 was expected, iPhone played down its features and decided to disappoint markets, rather than play to the Gallery and launch the iPhone 5.
For  Apple, the iPhone is a  Frankenstein Monster which it has created and. Tim Cook  knows that “ it would be difficult to replicate the iPhone success . The one thing Apple knows to do, which no other Tech companies have managed to do  is the art of launching a old product in a new version. The features, functionalities, add ons, compatibility, increasing processor speed and  Camera resolution  of iPhone 5 makes it a totally new iPhone.. and the new iPhone 5 is probably the launch of Apple 3.0 ( considering iPod. phone and ipad as Apple2.0 products)

How Samsung S 3 Plans to Counter iPhone 5

Samsung  is all set to “  announce war” on   Apple’s the iphone 5 which has  incidently become the fastest selling consumer electronics device across the world

Post the iphone launch euphoria , Samsung plans to launch a big media blitzkrieg   which it t plans to run in national newspapers tomorrow comparing the iPhone 5 to the Galaxy S III.
The ad breaks down some key specs of the two phones, but it's also a bit misleading. Samsung lists a lot of Galaxy S III-specific software features like sharing photos wirelessly between phones and tilt to zoom, but doesn't mention any iPhone 5-specific features.
The implication is that just because the iPhone 5 doesn't run Samsung's software it's an inferior phone. But Apple packed a lot of features into its iPhone software that the Galaxy S III can't do like Facebook and Twitter integration, AirPlay, and access to thousands of more apps.

iPhone 5 Sept Sales to cross 10 million, which S-III reached in 2 months

Apple is expected to sell approximately 10 million units of the iPhone 5 in September itself. Its arch rival Samsung's flagship Galaxy S III took around two months to reach the same milestone.

The iPhone 4S sold about 4 million units in the first three days of availability last year. The iPhone 4 sold about 1.7 million and iPhone 3GS about 1 million.

The iPhone 4S sold about 4 million units in the first three days of availability last year. The iPhone 4 sold about 1.7 million and iPhone 3GS about 1 million.

How many iphone 5 would apple sell this time. Will the iPhone cross  apple’s previous models.According to well  known tech  blogger  Horace Dediu  at Asymco, the new ‘iPhone 5 could sell over 263 million units worldwide.
This is based off the Apple’s senior vice-president of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller’s data on the sales numbers of iPhone 3 earlier models . He said that  “Each new generation sold approximately equal to all previous generations combined” statement. The 263 million unit figure came upon adding the iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS, 4, and 4S sales together

The iPhone 4S sold about 4 million units in the first three days of availability last year. The iPhone 4 sold about 1.7 million and iPhone 3GS about 1 million.
The main driver to growth for the initial weekend is usually upgrades for existing customers. There might be first time buyers, but the dedication required to ensure being first to have it usually means buyers are keen on the brand and are repeat customers.

After the post iPhone launch euphoria last week, its back to business for Apple as it starts shipping its gizmo the iphone 5.In US Apple iPhone 5 pre-orders started last Friday via AT&T, Verizon and Sprint but customers won't be able to get their new gadgets until  Friday September 21.

Last year, Apple sold 4 million iPhone 4S units during that phone's first three-day weekend in October. A full 10 million in sales over a little more than one week seems attainable this year, as long as there's enough supply to meet demand.

Overall, the analyst is eyeing total iPhone sales of at least 26 million units for the full September quarter, higher than the average Wall Street estimate of 22 million to 23 million.

The iPhone 5 Assembly Line : How Much will it sell

Gene Munster is raising his September iPhone estimates from 22 million to 27.2 million units given the confirmation of the iPhone 5 launch on September 21. As previously noted, he believes that Apple could sell between 6-10 million iPhone 5s by the end of September. Munster notes the company sold 4 million iPhone 4GS’s in its three day launch weekend last year.

Historically, first-weekend sales of new iPhones have ramped up significantly with the debut of each successive model. The iPhone 3GS sold more than one million units during its first weekend at market. The iPhone 4 sold more than 1.7 million. And the iPhone 4S sold more than four million.

Apple is expected  to report sales of between 22 million and 23 million iPhones during the September quarter. But if Apple ships its next-generation iPhone on Sept. 21, as expected, sales could be even higher.
According to Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, iPhone sales for the period could range between 26 million and 28 million units, with the bulk of that increase occurring the week of Sept. 21.

iPhone 5 to have the thinnest Screen Among all Apple Devices

Apple’s iPhone 5  LCD screen is expected to be the thinnest across any consumer devices sold till date The new screen will embed the LCD and the touch sensors into one consolidated layer that will help in substantially decreasing the depth of the device. Already in production at Sharp, LG Display, and Japan Display, the new screen will also be cost effective.

The iPhone 5 is rumoured  to have one of the thinnest LCD screen consumers could ever used . This is according to the latest news coming out via a patent filing which it has recently filed for
Apple’s the newly patented LCD screen technology integrates the touch sensors with the actual display circuits, reducing the space taken up by the screen. The new technology is an improvement over the current technique, which places the touch sensors on top of the screen and naturally leads to a thicker display.

Dubbed simply "Touch screen liquid crystal display," the patent suggests a variety of ways to integrate the various components. In one scenario, the touch-screen elements can be placed between the display's color filter and array plates, which means the design could support both conventional LCDs as well as IPS (in-plane-switching) screens.

Based on numerous news reports pointing to a September launch of the iPhone 5, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster estimates that Apple will sell 26 million to 28 million devices overall.

iPhone 5 could hit 10M units sold in September, analyst says | Apple - CNET News: "Should Apple launch its fifth version of the iPhone in September, the company is likely to sell 6 million to 10 million of those devices in the last 10 days of the month, according to an analyst.

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster estimated that Apple will sell 26 million to 28 million devices overall in its September quarter. That projection is well ahead of current estimates, which account for slowing iPhone sales and roughly 22 million to 23 million units in the quarter."

For Apple, a September launch would allow it to top Wall Street estimates. In recent quarters, Apple fell short of projections even though it still has raked in tons of cash.
In the big picture, the iPhone 5 timing of units isn't that big a deal -- unless you hold Apple shares. Munster noted that he expects the iPhone 5 to be "the largest consumer electronics product upgrade in history."

Horace Dideu of Asymco recently posted a  chart on  how iPhone generation ranked in terms of  Sales History

The 3G easily outsold the original iPhone. In fact, it sold nearly four times as many.
The 3GS also handily beat the 3G+original total by a factor of 1.6
The 4 also beat the 3GS+3G+original. As the 4 may continue to sell into the future, the beat will only grow larger.
The 4S is only half way through beating  the 4+3GS+3G+original

New iPhone 5 to support China Mobile's proprietary 3G network,

Apple's next-generation iPhone is expected to launch in October with support for China Mobile's proprietary 3G network, making it a "true world phone," according to a new report.

Support for China Mobile's TD-SCDMA 3G network will be a "key feature" of Apple's sixth-generation iPhone. China Mobile is the largest cellular operator in the world, with more than 650 million mobile subscribers.

Though trials for a high-speed 4G long-term evolution networks are currently underway in China, but widespread adoption of LTE is likely to be 2 to 3 years away. In his eyes, strong 3G support is "critical" for the next iPhone to find success with China Mobile.

In addition, Apple is also enhancing support for Chinese-language users with iOS 6, which he thinks will make the iPhone an even more attractive platform for customers in China. With iOS 6, Siri will be able to understand and speak Mandarin and Cantonese, while the software update will also offer easier Chinese character input and integration with popular Internet services like Baidu, Sina Weibo, Youku and Tudou.

The iPhone 5 Anticipated Launch in 2012

The iPhone 5 release date will be this Summer, according to a previously-reliably source at Apple'scontract manufacturer, Foxconn.

9to5 Mac reports that a Foxconn worker told them that the next-generation iPhone, tentatively called the iPhone 5, is gearing up for production. According to the report, there are several different samples, each of which varies slightly from the others, so it’s impossible to determine which will be final.

However, all the samples sport 4-inch or larger screens, which would finally put the iPhone into the same screen leagues as many of its high-end Android competitors, like the Droid RAZR. That of course means none of the samples have the same compact form factor as the iPhone 4 or 4S. The screen on one of the units is said to be made by LG; there was no screen info for the other samples.

The final design seems nearly finalized, and production is already 'gearing up.' InIT Blogwatch, bloggers debate veracity of tittle-tattle.next iPhone 5 has at various times been rumored to include LTE connectivity, larger display, a quad-core processor, new design and much, much more.

iPhone 5 Launch Day Sales Expected at 1.7 Million

Iphone  Sales  per Quarter
Apple's reported decision to release a new iPhone in the fall, as opposed to the summer, will deliver massive sales, writes RBC analyst Mike Abramsky in a note.

RBC surveyed 2,200 consumers and found "unprecedented demand," with 31% of consumers very/somewhat likely to buy an iPhone 5, which is stronger than the 25% of consumers that were very/somewhat likely to buy an iPhone 4, when RBC did the same sort of survey before it launched.

Sources in the Industry says that Apple's delay could cause a bigger upgrade from existing iPhone owners, since the iPhone 4 is 15 months old. He says 66% of existing iPhone owners are very/somewhat likely to buy a new iPhone.

If Apple  manages to sell 110 million iPhones, it will generates $140 billion in sales overall, and earns $34.50 per share for fiscal 2012. Apple reported $12.3 billion in iPhone sales last quarter, half of its overall revenue, and up 126% year-over-year.

Wall Street analysts are already predicting record first day sales for Apple’s iPhone 5.
Demand and anticipation for a new iPhone is always high, but thanks to a 16-month gap between the release of the iPhone 4 and its successor, customers are more excited about the iPhone 5 than ever.

In 2010, the iPhone 4 moved 1.7 million units in its first three days of release and was Apple’s most successful product launch ever. Apple's iPhone has gone from zero to half of Apple's revenue in less than 4 years.

The real story for Apple continues to be the iPhone which did $13.3 billion in sales for the quarter. The iPhone and iPad are now 66% of Apple's sales, impressive considering how relatively new the products are.

The End of The Wait For The iPhone 5 : Rumors, Roadblocks and Release

PCMag  published this Infographic  created by  allareacodes , on the rumors and speculation on the Apple  iPhone 5 wait for launch. This couls be very likely as the Biggest wait for any  release of consumer electronics device  and as a change Apple didn't reveal a new iPhone at WWDC 2011, instead using it to announce the new iCloud and iOS 5.

The iPhone 5 media Coverage across print and digital has been ground breaking  this includes a lot of rumors, speculation and hype  for the last 15 Months   with some rumors having  more credibility than others. It's confusing for all, but fortunately the folks over at AllAreaCodes have created a nifty infographic listing out key iPhone 5 rumors and when they began. The first rumor, according to this graph, dates back to November 2010 and claims Apple will include a near field communications (NFC) chip in the next iPhone, which would let users transmit information between devices; NFC is one form of technology that powers mobile payments.
Afterwards, people quibbled over everything from the launch date (June, September, October, November?) to carrier support (T-Mobile and Sprint too?) to the curvature of the outer casing (teardrop or box-shaped?).

And in the leadup to Apple's iPhone event on Tuesday,  the rumors have become more sophisticated to include details like what sort of 4G network it'll run on and the extent of voice recognition it'll pack. iPhone 5 Pre-Orders On eBay From $1140 ?

There is a huge iPhone 5 buzz in the media right now and there are some who want to cash-in on all this craziness. TodaysiPhone reports on the rather curious case of an eBay seller that has already listed the iPhone 5 for pre-orders.

According to  this source ,If you follow this link you will see that the bidding has already ended, with 0 bids and a whopping starting price of $1,140. We obviously don't want to give free promotion to this eBay seller (who, incidentally, has 99.3% positive feedback),
There is a chance that the iPhone 5 could arrive SIM-free and even be globally available. It might be offered even on your country's carrier sooner than you might think

However, it seems that the seller is pretty confident he can get hold of several 32GB models and he also left a contact number. Even if he can though, there's really no logic in paying $1200 for something that you could get for $400 or even $500 cheaper.

Redesigned, Revamped "iPhone 5" Just Weeks away from Launch

Apple is "just weeks away" from announcing a fifth-generation iPhone that will be fairly different from the iPhone 4, both on the inside and outside, according to a new report.. The iPhone 5 is rumored to be out in time for the busy holiday season this year

"We’re just weeks away from the announcement of the new Apple iPhone 5, according to an Apple employee who asked not to be named because he was not allowed to speak publicly for the company," Nick Bilton wrote in a report for The New York Times.
Recently the iphone 5 ,case designs which recently surfaced online "seemed potentially authentic." According to sources close of Apple . The designs, which were quickly taken down, depicted a next-generation iPhone with curved sides, a flat back, and a mute switch moved to the right side of the handset.

According to an Apple engineer "familiar with the new iPhone," the company's next handset will be "fairly different" from the previous generation. The source also confirmed the widely-held belief that the device will sport an 8-megapixel camera and the faster A5 processor currently found in the iPad 2.

Here are some of the " Speculations floating around the web on the " iPhone 5" launch and its features
  • Ships with iOS 5
Apple always makes a improvement to their operating system every year for their newest iPhone and iPad. Probability: 100%
  • Ships with faster processor
Currently the iPad 2 has a 1GHz A5 dual core processor and since the Android phones already have dual core processors, it's a safe bet that the next iPhone will have a dual core processor.
  • Better battery life
The battery life from the iPhone 3GS to the iPhone 4 improved 40% and it will probably improve from the iPhone 4 to iPhone 5  If Apple includes LTE 4G capability (which is unlikely due to the power requirement) the battery would have to go through a vast improvement to handle the increase of power use over a typical day. Probability: 97%
  • AT&T, Verizon, Sprint versions available on day one
When the Verizon iPhone was released, it was found that it contained both a Verizon CDMA chip and AT&T GSM chip so Apple can now produce one phone for both networks. Since the Verizon phone broke through the AT&T iPhone monopoly, can a Sprint-enabled phone be far behind? Probability: 95%
  • Bigger Screen
Whispers circulating around the web point to a bigger screen but Apple needs to find a perfect balance to increase the screen without sacrificing battery life. Probability: 65%

Since the start of the iOS App Store July 10, 2008, the total apps that have been approved is 577,614 while the apps available in the store is closing in on half a million at 454,195. If you break it down into apps for specific devices, the total iPhone Apps is 405,388, iPad Apps is 125,010, and in the Mac App Store there are 6,568 apps available. With numbers like that, there's definitely an app for everyone.
