Samsung ‘s Galaxy Note is setting the market alight with its form and function, as users lap up the gadget across the world. The sales figures recently released saw , Samsung note sales zooming to 5 million in just 5 months.
Samsung had introduced the Galaxy Note, a mini-tablet and phone with a screen half the size of the iPad, in October,2011 and the top-end model has quickly become its core profit earner.The Galaxy Note was announced by Samsung during IFA 2011 in Berlin. It was released to the public starting with Germany in late October 2011, with other countries following shortly after that. By the end of November, it was available in most major markets, including East Asia, Europe and India.
The Galaxy Note is equipped with Android 2.3 "Gingerbread", but Samsung have said that they will be releasing an upgrade to Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich" in the second quarter of 2012 The standard Android user interface is overlaid with Samsung's TouchWiz 4.0 interface, which includes support for the device's stylus, among other features.
Samsung's five million Galaxy Notes sold in only five months, which has helped Samsung to grab around 67 percent of the Korean smartphone market share. though the Galaxy Note has been available in Asia starting last October, in the United States it has come much later, which means that the five million units could become ten million in no time.
Sales of the Note, which has revived the throwback stylus function, have topped 5 million, increasing the competition against Apple Inc and smartphone strugglers HTC , Nokia and Research in Motion.As of the first quarter of 2012 from January to March, 5 million Samsung Note have been sold across the world.
