Indian Mobile Sales exceed 102million in 1st half of 2012

Nokia still top phonemaker in India | ZDNet: The total shipments of mobile handsets in India reached 102.4 million units during the first half of 2012, which showed 16.9 percent growth during the six-month period. with Nokia continuing to rule as no 1 Mobile Vendor in India  with with 22.2% of the total  mobile shipments

In a recent study by CyberMedia Research (CMR), the period between January and June 2012 saw 102.4 million units of mobile handsets shipped in India, with 5.5 million of these smartphones.

By comparison, smartphones grew at 12.2 percent. Samsung trailed the Nokia with 13 percent of total unit shipments, while local manufacturer Micromax came in at 5.5 percent.

The Indian mobile handset market is estimated to reach 251 million units in 2013, an increase of 13.5% over this year, according to a global research firm. The mobile handset market is expected to show steady growth through 2016 when end-user sales will surpass 326 million units, as per estimates from Connecticut- based Gartner Inc.

Samsung & Apple continue smartphone market dominance  as shipments of smartphones grew 35% annually to reach nearly 162 million units in the third quarter of 2012, according to new data from research firm Strategy Analytics.

Samsung was the undisputed leader and  ranked no 1  in  Smartphone sales with  as its smartphone shipments exceeding  a  global record record  of  shipping  56.9 million smartphones worldwide during the Q3,2012 which is the largest number of units ever shipped by a smartphone vendor in a single quarter

In Q3,2012  Samsung's Smartphones   had 35% global marketshare .Ranked no 2 was Apple's iphones  which sold 26.9 million smartphones worldwide  with a 17% market share in 2012.Overall Samsung sold twice the number of smartphones  sold by Apple
Apple grew  57% annually in 2012 and shipped 26.9 million smartphones worldwide for 17 percent Marketshare, up from 14 percent recorded a year earlier in 2011.

UK Mobile OS Marketshare: Symbian leads,Android grows by 634%

Apple has overtaken Symbian over the past year to become the top smartphone platform in the UK with 27.1 percent market share, followed by Google’s Android with 26.7 percent market share and Symbian with 22.5 percent. In May 2011, 42 percent of UK mobile consumers used a smartphone compared to only 27 percent a year ago. 


The Marketshare in UK are as Follows  (data  as on  May,2011)
 
1)Apple iOS : 27%
2)Android :26.7%
3)Symbian :22.5%

Android has rapidly grown its user base adding nearly 4.7 million new users over the past year, equaling a 634 percent rise. In May 2011, Android was only 0.4 percentage points short of being level with the leading smartphone platform Apple.
