In 2014, the mobile industry contributed a total of US$3 trillion to the world economy in value added terms, equivalent to around 3.8% of global GDP. This contribution can be broken down into four elements. The direct contribution from mobile operators in 2014 was US$776 billion in value added terms. The broader mobile ecosystem generated a total value added of over US$300 billion.

Just as Windows held a almost monopoly across desktop OS in the last 15 years.Android is set to rule the mobile OS  in the same way.Android's mobile OS  share is increasing at record speed. From overall  49% market share  its expected to become 63% by 2016.. and by 2019 almost 85% unless  a mobile OS  become strong enough to challenge it . Apple's iOS definetly wont make it and  windows mobile  is now where in the radar// So is it ripe for someone  to disrupt the Android monopoly?.

.Come May 18 and Chinese smartphone company Meizu is setting shop in India to launch their range of smartphones. , Meizu, announced on its official Twitter handle that it would launch  the  Meizu m1 Note in India. With this Made in China smartphones number 4 in this countryw... Xiaomi, Gionee and Oppo and now Meizu.

Meizu m1 Note has a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel display covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.The smartphone will run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat atop which it has its proprietary Flyme 4 skin. The phone has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera.
The starting price   is expected to be around Rs 13,800

As chinese mobile usage exceeds 1.25billion, not to be outdone  Indian mobile penetration has increased a manifold since 2013. A ccording to Forbes ,Mobile advertising volume in India grew the fastest in the world, climbing a record 260% since July 2013. Another report by research firm IDC pegs  Indian smartphone growth rate at over 82% and  says that India continues to be the fastest growing smartphone market in the Asia Pacific. Indonesia is another powerhouse which will surpass 100million active smartphone users by 2018 according to techniasia

Alibaba set to invest in Micromax, plans to push its mobile OS to spur ecommerce in India

 Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba is set to be in talks to invest in  one of India's biggest smartphone maker, Micromax, .Micromax has an 18 percent smartphone market share in India, and is one of the most competitive players in the market, which saw them fought off samsung last year

Alibaba is looking to market its own mobile OS known as YunOS, to push its e-commerce services across developing countries .By partnering with Micromax it can have an instant access and reach of captive consumers riding on its network. As ecommerce in India   increasingly integrated itself to the mobile ecosystem..connected devices like mobile and tablets will continue to be the gateway to gain a stronger foothold in India's e-commerce market which is dominated by domestic players Flipkart and Snapdeal.

Android is global leader for traffic and revenue, but iOS and tablets are tops for monetization

Android devices overtook iOS devices in mobile traffic last year on the Opera Mediaworks platform, and as of this past quarter ( q1 2015)they’ have now caught up in terms of mobile ad revenues (45.8% and 45.4%, respectively). But, iOS devices still lead in monetization: their share of mobile ad revenues is about double their share of traffic (45.4% vs. 22.3%), Android continues to dominate the market, with a 65.2% share of impressions higher than 42.8% share of one year ago.

according to Nielsen's Total Audience Report, Americans aged 18 and older spend more than 11 hours a day watching TV, listening to the radio or using smartphones and other electronic devices..
