36% Facebook Penetration in France,with 47.8 million Internet users

In France, 47.8 million internet users spent a total of nearly 1.2 billion hours online in December 2011. Google Sites was the top online property by unique visitors, attracting over 44.8 million people who spent a total of 137.5 million hours on the site. During December,  over 39.2 million users went to Microsoft Sites making it the second most popular online property ranked by visitors.. Facebook was the leading site in terms of engagement with over 32.9 million unique visitors spending 165.5 million hours on the site during the month

Socialbakers data show Facebook Penetration in France at 36.43% compared to the country's population and 52.88% in relation to number of Internet users.One of the French companies ranking amongst the largest web properties was retailer Groupe PPR. Their audience increased by nearly 12 percent from October 2011 to December 2011, when most Ba population) in June 2011, according to Internet World Stats. (Internet world Stats, August 2011)

Statscounter France  data in for the last one year Twitter and Youtube takes the 2nd and 3rd place with a huge margin.

Smartphone Addiction in UK,Birmingham, London Tops Usage

The UK is a nation “addicted” to smartphones, according to a new report out Thursday from media competition regulator Ofcom. More than a quarter of all adults and almost half of all British teenagers own smartphones, such as an iPhone or a Blackberry, according to the report –was revealed data usage on the devices has soared by more than 75 per cent in the first quarter of 2011.New Ofcom research reveals the extent to which the UK has become addicted to smartphones, with people confessing to using them everywhere from the dining table to the bathroom and bedroom.

Of all the cities in Metro’s circulation, usage grew the most in Birmingham, in which 102 per cent more data is being consumed every week.London had an 87 per cent rise – the equivalent of viewing 63million websites every seven days – while people in Edinburgh are now using 72 per cent more data,
The vast majority of smartphone users (81 per cent) have their mobile switched on all of the time, even when they are in bed, with four in ten adults (38 per cent) and teens (40 per cent) admitting using their smartphone after it woke them

Over half (51 per cent) of adults and two thirds (65 per cent) of teenagers say they have used their smartphone while socialising with others, nearly a quarter (23 per cent) of adults and a third (34 per cent) of teenagers have used them during mealtimes and over a fifth (22 per cent) of adult and nearly half (47 per cent) of teenage smartphone users admitted using or answering their handset in the bathroom or toilet.
