In terms of web usage  across United Kingdom , The west Midlands, east Midlands, East of England,London, Scotland ,South East were regions across UK which had the higher internet and web usage

  1. The South East had the highest proportion of recent internet users (90%) and Northern Ireland was the area with the lowest proportion (80%) 
  2. In quarter 1 (Jan to Mar) 2015, 86% of adults (44.7 million) in the UK had used the internet in the last 3 months (recent users)
  3.  Across UK it is estimated that  of 85% The South East had the highest proportion of recent internet users (90%) and Northern Ireland was the area with the lowest proportion (80%).

Why Americans are watching less TV every passing year . Chart of the day

According to the latest Marketing charts,  data . TV viewing trends among 8 to 24  age group has been compared .Nielsen’s most recent study indicates that Americans aged 18-24 watched a weekly average of a little less than 22 hours of traditional TV during Q1 2014. That was a 95-minute drop-off from Q1 2013, which in turn had been down by 80 minutes from the year before. In fact, in the space of 3 years, Q1 TV viewing by 18-24-year-olds dropped by a little more than 4-and-a-half hours per week. 

That’s a substantial amount, equivalent to roughly 40 minutes per day. In percentage terms, traditional TV viewing among 18-24-year-olds in Q1 2014 was down by almost 7% year-over-year. Between Q1 2011 and Q1 2014, weekly viewing fell by almost 18%, a sizable figure.

A recent report by Econsultancy, in association with Responsys, shows that  in UK  on average 35% of their total marketing budgets on digital with a revenue contribution from digital at 34%  The survey – of respondents primarily from the UK (46%) and other European countries (19%) – finds that 56% are spending less than 30% of their budgets on digital channels, while 32% are devoting more than half of their budgets to these channels. 

According to the study, 71% of companies plan to increase their digital marketing budgets by an average of 28%, compared to only 20% who expect to raise their traditional marketing budgets, by an average of 26%

Notably, though, despite multiple signs that the budget mix increasingly favors digital  the overall average of 35% of budgets allocated to digital actually represents a slight drop from 36% last year.

According to research conducted by the Pew Research Center 15 percent of American adults are offline. Not surprisingly, the share of offline adults varies within different demographics.

While only two percent of those aged 18-29 don't use the internet, 44 percent of Americans 65 and older are offline. The same holds true for the level of education: people with a higher degree are much less likely to be without internet access than others.

 So what are the reasons for people not to use the internet? According to Pew's research it all boils down to three categories of reasons:
 Relevance, usability and lack of access. 34 percent of those who are offline claim that they are not interested in the internet, that they don't need it or that it is a plain waste of time.

33 percent think it's too difficult to use or consider themselves too old or physically unfit to learn using the web.

Only 26 percent claim not to use the internet because they don't have a computer or can't afford internet access

Yahoo edges out Google In Search Gets More Unique Visitors





Yahoo Defeats Google: Gets More Unique Visitors in July - Search Engine Watch (#SEW): "Yahoo dethroned Google as the top destination of U.S. web users in July, comScore reported. Yahoo had an estimated 197 million unique visitors in July, compared to Google's 192 million. However, mobile device visits aren't included in those figures.

While these aren't the most comprehensive traffic figures, comScore's July numbers show that Yahoo boosted its traffic by around 20 percent compared to last July. This is the first time Yahoo has taken the top spot on comScore's list since May 2011"

Apple launches new iPod Touch, as it breaks the 100million mark

Apple launched
a new entry level iPod Touch early Thursday, and also quietly confirmed that they've sold 100 millon of the portable media devices since launching the line in 2007.
Both announcements came, well, without announcements of any sort; the new iPod quietly appeared in Apple's online store last night, and company spokespeople mentioned the sales milestone in a conversation with blogger Jim Dalrymple. There isn't a related press release to be found.

The $229 device features the same slim form factor, A5 chip, 4" Retina display and iOS 6 operating system as Apple's other Touch models, but lacks the rear-facing camera and larger storage capacities of the previous Touches. Available only in one configuration (16GB of storage paired with a black & silver finish), the newest iPod will ship within 24 hours and be available in Apple retail stores tomorrow.

Brands Spends 70% of Ad Dollars on Search and Online Display, Mobile spends increase 100%

Search Marketing remains the leading format, having strong sequential growth through this period

All formats other than Digital Video are down slightly as a percentage of total revenue due to the substantial growth of Mobile. 

Mobile revenues showed the strongest growth of any format, representing 9% of total revenues in 2012compared to 5% reported in 2011 and a negligible share as recently as 2009.

US Internet Advertising Records 3rd Consecutive double digit growth,








IAB in its recent report on US digital Advertising Revenue spends show that Digital advertising revenues climbed to a milestone high of $36.6 billion in 2012, according to the IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report for the full-year of 2012. That historic number marks a 15 percent rise over 2011’s full-year number, which itself had been the highest on record, at $31.7 billion.

Revenues from Internet advertising  totaled $17.0 billion for the first six months of 2012,  with Q1 2012 accounting for approximately $8.3 billion and Q2 2012 totaling approximately $8.7 billion. Revenues  for the first six months of 2012 increased 14% over the first six months of 2011. 


— Mobile advertising in the United States totaled $1.2 billion during HY 2012, up from $636 million in the comparable period 2011.
