linkedin and pinterest fall from grace from top 5 social media sites




Snapchat and Twitter has surpassed linkedin in terms of traffic . Facebook leads Social network marketshare with  over 1,5 billion, followed by Tumblr  and instagram with 500 million users. Twitter and Snapchat share the honors for the 4th and 5th place
Pinterest and Linkedin have seen their places toppled by  Instagram and snapchat.

The top 3 start ups  in US is now valued at a combined $95 billion. Uber leads the list with $51billion  followed by  Airbnb which is valued at  $25.5billion while Palantir is valued at $20billion
Snapchat and SpaceX is respectively valued $16billion and $12billion .

Meanwhile in terms of available funding these 5 top start up companies  has been funded combined upto the tune of $16billion. Effectively the  start up funding to valuation ratio for these top 5 companies is 5 times.

Alexa and Compete published their list of most trafficked  social web sites  this year . Social networking sites led by Facebook and Twitter rules the  social box office with  compete ranking it 3 and Alexa ranking in 2. Alexa ranks websites in terms of web traffic, as a result the lower the alexa rank, the higher the traffic and vice versa.  Compete is a similar tool which ranks web sites  as per unique visitors.
 
Twitter and Linkedin make the number 2 and 3  most frequented social networks with a compete ranking it  21 and Alexa ranking it 7. Linkedin ranks  25 in compete and 9 in Alexa

Out of Instagram’s  estimated 300m monthly active users around  70% of these people are outside the US.Instagram users  post 70m photos and hit the ‘like’ button 2.5billion times. (according to Instagram’s own blog)


However in terms of engagement and bounce rate Instagram score way ahead of  any other social network. And it actually beats twitter hands down..Brands using Instagram are seeing higher levels of engagement than on Twitter, according to data from Socialbakers.
Focusing purely on the top 25 most engaging brands, the average post engagement rate is 3.31% on Instagram compared to 0.07% on Twitter.

While there is no evidence or research to show that productivity or efficiency is gender dependent nor any study to show why companies needs to hire more woman than men or vice versa.  So what makes them so attractive to tom tom !! For these global technology giants gender diversity is a big statement in itself .It makes them sound very politically correct and helps them to don the leadership role in the tech industry by trying to showcase gender diversity. This is a great way to hire new woman recruits who are at times seen not as ambitious or career driven as men… What is left unsaid is the role of economics in gender diversity . Do compensation levels play a role in gender divide ?

Pinterest Referrals Jump 66%, now drives 300% more traffic than Twitter

In the social media pecking order who do you think drives the maximum  referral traffic  across the publisher networks ? Is it  Facebook ? LinkedIn or Twitter ? or Pinterest ?

According to latest Shareholic report” The Social Media Giants  led by Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest  collectively drives around 15.22% of overall traffic to third party . While Facebook accounted for more than 10% of overall traffic to publishers .   

Pinterest drove 3.68% of traffic to publishers in September last year ,the second highest of the social networks on the list

The battle for Online Spending : Pinterest vs Facebook: A recent survey of 7,431 online shoppers, conducted by BizRate Insights, reveals Pinterest motivates more online purchases than Facebook.


Ranked By IBM And MutualMind: Black Friday Winners And Losers – Forbes: ” While Thanksgiving online sales  zoomed by 19%over previous year, mainly powered by Mobile sales contributing 25.8% of total online sales for Thanksgiving. However the ” one important data which  has not been ” discussed ” was the role of Pinterest in driving  Mobile and Online Sales during Thanksgiving    

 However one interesting Fact  that has been unsaid  was” On average, holiday shoppers referred from Pinterest on Black Friday spent 77 percent more per order than shoppers referred from Facebook.  Facebook average order value was $52.30 versus Pinterest average order value which was $92.51.  However, according to IBM, Facebook referrals converted sales at nearly four times the rate of Pinterest.
